Pink Lake
Pink Lake, Gatineau Park, Hull, Quebec.
"Why call a green lake pink?
The Lake takes its name from the Pink family who settled here in the 1830s. The green colour is a recent occurrence, first noticed in the 1960s.
During the 1970s, studies conducted to determine the source of the green colour uncovered some unexpected facts about the lake. For example, scientists found that the water at a depth of 13 metres or more contained no oxygen. As researchers explored the ecology of the lake, it became evident that Pink Lake was a truly unique lake."
